Queen Mary’s Hall
The scaffolded form of Castle Drogo 2016
Christmas Lunch at The Bloomsbury Hotel
Saturday 9 December, 2017, 12noon-4pm
The Bloomsbury Hotel, 16-22 Great Russell Street, London, WC1B 3NN
Taking place once more at the Bloomsbury Hotel, Great Russell Street – formerly the YWCA, designed by Lutyens in 1930 – the lunch will feature a tour of the building, including the former Queen Mary’s Hall, library and chapel either following or preceding it. We are also pleased to announce that the guest speaker will be Bryher Mason, the House & Collections Manager for National Trust Castle Drogo. Bryher will be presenting a talk on the ongoing restoration and waterproofing of the Castle, which was famously built over the same span of time as Lutyens New Delhi.
The lunch will also feature an audio-visual review of the year’s visits, a pictorial quiz – to recognise Lutyens works – with prizes and a raffle offering more great prizes. Providing outstanding food and wine at a top venue, this lunch is not to be missed.
The cost of the full three-course luncheon, including half a bottle of wine, is £45. It’s advisable to book early for this popular event.
