Book Launch: Old Delhi Living Traditions
A well attended event was held at the Nehru Centre on 25th June, to mark the launch of a new book “Old Delhi Living Traditions” by Dr SY Quraishi, Chief Electoral Commissioner of India. Paying tribute to Old Delhi, where his family has lived for 500 years, the author paints an informative and entertaining picture of the city of Old Delhi and what it means to live there. Lord Hameed of Hampstead chaired the event and the book was launched by S K Misra, former Chairman of INTACH and the author himself. Speakers included Martin Lutyens, The Lutyens Trust; Suhail Seth, CEO of Councel at Nelsn Mullins; and Professor Jane Ridley, Sir Edwin’sgreat granddaughter and author of his biography, who provided a lively review.
Published by Shubhi Publications, the book has lavish spreads of pictures and paintings interspersed by interesting nuggets and recipes from the heritage core of the city.
The event also provided an opportunity to congratulate the Director of the Nehru Centre, Monika Kapil Mohta, on her appointment as the Indian Ambassador to Poland and to wish her well in her new post. She has been a good friend to The Lutyens Trust and has hosted a number of successful events for us at the Nehru Centre in recent years, for which we are most grateful.
