A Lutyens Staircase

Visitors to the Palacio de Liria ascend a monumental domed stairway which together with the interiors was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens during 1939 – 1943. The restoration by the Spanish architect, Manuel de Cabanyes was carried out in 1948 – 1956. The royal residence is actually just one of six palaces the Duchess of Alba 79, owns throughout Spain.
