The Incorporated Association of Architects and Surveyors
Autumn 2000
This year is the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the IAAS, now the Association of Building Engineers. Sir Edwin Lutyens was their President from 1931-1939. As part of the celebrations Charles Lutyens our Treasurer, Sir Edwin’s great nephew, was invited to the Association’s Headquarters, at Weston Favell on 5 February to rename it ‘Lutyens House’. He made a short speech, mainly anecdotes of Sir Edwin, renamed the building and unveiled a plaque celebrating the occasion. Mr Stephen Barker the President thanked Charles Lutyens and recounted what Lutyens had done for the Association. A buffet lunch followed. It was good to know that the Association of Building Engineers has such an affection for Sir Edwin and has named their Headquarters after him.
