Retirement of the Hon. Treasurer
by Martin Lutyens
At the last meeting of the trustees, Charles B. Lutyens retired both as a trustee and as Hon. Treasurer. The trustees recorded their heartfelt thanks to Charles for the hard work and care he had put into his duties as Treasurer, and the guidance he had provided on the Trust’s finances over a period of almost exactly seventeen years.
It is, however, a great sadness to report that Charles’s wife, Issie, fell ill soon after his retirement and died in April after a short illness. Issie was a great supporter of The Lutyens Trust and had many friends among the membership. She will be remembered by them with affection and we send Charles deep and sincere sympathy for his loss.
The Trust is fortunate that Charles P. Lutyens, another great-nephew of Sir Edwin, has agreed to take over as Hon. Treasurer and the trustees are grateful to him for doing so. He has many years of business experience in the UK and elsewhere and is ideally qualified to take over from his namesake.
